Harrogate Model Flying Club

Harrogate Model Flying Club is based in Harrogate in the heart of North Yorkshire. The club originally started in the mid 60’s flying on the Stray, the club has grown steadily since its inception and currently has approximately  40 members.

Since those early days on the Stray we have had several flying sites, our current sites are at Goldsborough and a hundred acre site just outside Beckwithshaw. On Saturdays we have use of Dishforth Airfield which allows us to fly larger aircraft than would be practical at our Goldsborough Site (check out the Gallery to see the sorts of aircraft our members fly).

We welcome all levels of ability, from a novice with a small basic aircraft to experienced pilots with a large aircraft, helicopter or glider.

As the Harrogate Model Flying Club is a BMFA affiliated club all members are also members of the BMFA, this gives us model flying insurance and the opportunity to promote our hobby and progress by participating in the BMFA certification schemes.

Our Club Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month, in the winter months we hold our meetings at the Harrogate Cricket Club, those meetings start at 8pm and consist of a formal meeting updating member on the clubs activities over the past month and then some entertainment which could be a build competition, quiz, talk or demonstration. As always its a great place to pick up some information, skills or advice.

During the summer months we hold our meetings at our Goldsborough flying field, these evenings usually start around 6pm with the BBQ being lit at around 5:30, this gives the chance of some evening flying, food and a few drinks, again its a great chance to get those modelling issues ironed out as there is usually a wealth of experience at hand.
